Heatmap based on calls regarding structure fires [Data Source: SF OpenData]
This is an interactive heat map that exhibits calls to the Fire Department regarding structure fires. The neighborhoods that we chose to display are ones that had more than 90 calls throughout the month of December with the exception of Lakeshore neighborhood. Lakeshore's data reveals that it had less than 90 calls in the month of December 2016. Strikingly, Lakeshore had 40 calls in one day.
After some research, the Data Queens found that the Lakeshore fire happened near San Francisco State University in a high rise apartment. ABC7 News covered the story. The news article can be found here.
