This visualization shows the San Francisco 311 Tree Maintenance Data in relation to the San Francisco Supervisor Districts and San Francisco Street Centerlines. Each row in the dataset corresponds to a tree maintenance record with a point with latitude and longitude values, which are used to map the case to the map and the respective neighborhood.
Each point on the map of San Francisco represents a tree maintenance record, with additional information available on demand when it is being mouseover. Additional information about each supervisor district is also available upon mouseover. Each point is color coded into green and red that represents the status of the case, where green indicates the case has closed and red indicates the case is still opened. Clicking on each supervisor district also enables filtering, in which only the cases occurred in that district are shown.
From the visualization, it is observable that the majority of the cases have been closed and resolved. In particular, district 1 and 4 have significantly fewer cases, while many occurred in the vicinity of where district 5, 6, 8 and 9 meet. This might be an indication of where the trees are more vulnerable, or at least where the majority of trees are planted. The visualization can provide insights to local authorities as to how funding towards tree maintenance should be allocated across supervisor districts in San Francisco.
